PlayStation 'Treat Codes' Contest is Giving Gamers a Chance to Win a PS5
Anyone still looking to purchase a PS5 may be in luck, as Sony is offering a chance for gamers to win their very own for free with an official contest.
As of February 2, PS5 sales have hit 17.3 Million, but that doesn't mean that semiconductor chip shortages and supply chain issues haven't prevented folks from getting one. Anyone who's tried in vain to purchase one online since its releases knows that, although it’s gotten better, it's still a struggle to nab one before bots and scalpers. Even then, $500 for a new console may be out of many people's price range. Fortunately, Sony is offering them away for free for anyone ok with doing a little sleuthing.

Fans can earn one of 14 PS5 consoles by spotting so-called Treat Codes. Over the next two weeks codes will pop up in “unexpected places” such as on websites, or in person at sports, film, gaming, and music events. The hashtag #PS5TREATCODES is a good place to find codes that have been found already. Fans can start entering the codes at the PlayStation site but will have to keep an eye out for more in the weeks ahead.
The PS5 is the fastest-selling console in United States history even with its issues getting to consumers in the middle of a global pandemic. The Xbox Series X is the fastest-selling Xbox console of all time, but it’s a bit behind at around 12 million units sold. Of course, both are still dwarfed by the Nintendo Switch, which had a years-long head start and has sold around 102 million units so far.
Being that the console is selling well rumors of a “PS5 Slim” revision are still just that, rumors, but if history is to go by anything a new edition of the console will undoubtedly be released in the future. Some wonder
