The rumored PlayStation equivalent to Xbox Game Pass is reportedly lacking the biggest reason to subscribe to such a service. Xbox Game Pass is an incredible deal for a number of reasons, but the biggest is the fact that Xbox Game Studios titles are added to the service on launch day.
Sony has come under fire for the cost of its first-party games, which increased at the start of the PS5 era. By comparison, Microsoft is offering all of its first-party Xbox Game Studios titles on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S as part of one subscription fee. This has been seen as Microsoft's biggest weapon in the current console generation, especially as it's adding the former ZeniMax Studios games to its line-up, with Starfield arriving on Game Pass in November. The service will become even more valuable when Microsoft completes its acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023 and adds a ton of high-profile franchises to Xbox Game Studios and Xbox Game Pass.

There have been rumors circulating that Sony is planning a PlayStation equivalent to Xbox Game Pass, known internally as PlayStation Spartacus. It is now being reported on Bloomberg (via Nibellion on Twitter) that Sony is almost ready to reveal its new PlayStation subscription service and that it could be unveiled as early as next week. This service is expected to offer a range of classic titles, including ones from older PlayStation systems. The most expensive tier will offer extended demos and the ability to stream games, in the same manner as PlayStation Now.
