Peaky Blinders season 6 has set Tommy Shelby up for a tumultuous time, but his potential savior of the season was surprisingly set up as early as season 1. Peaky Blinders season 1 started out with Inspector Campbell in pursuit of stolen British weapons that Tommy Shelby had in hiding, a mission instigated by Winston Churchill. Churchill’s introduction right at the beginning of the show has allowed for his increased relevance throughout the seasons, culminating in what looks like a potential alliance between himself and Tommy Shelby for the upcoming season.
The stakes in Peaky Blinders season 6 seem higher than ever before, with enemies starting to surround and overwhelm Tommy Shelby. That includes not only Oswald Mosley, but potentially even Gina Gray becoming a season 6 villain. One individual stands apart from the crowd, however, not only in his support for Tommy but also for the fact that he was also once an adversary of Tommy's: Winston Churchill. Despite being technically in opposition to Tommy Shelby in season 1, his distance from the operation and resultant lack of emotional investment in the conflict, unlike Inspector Campbell, meant that his focus remained clearly on the mission at hand.

Once Churchill retrieved the guns in Peaky Blinders season 1, Tommy no longer an adversary in Churchill’s mind.
