The showrunner of Ozark teases that the series might be getting a spinoff sooner than later. The series, which ran on Netflix for a total of four seasons, was created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams in 2017. The show centers on Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), a suburban dad who moves his family to central Missouri to help expand his money laundering business. The series also stars Laura Linney as his political PR strategist wife Wendy, Sofia Hublitz as their daughter Charlotte, Skylar Gaertner as their son Jonah, and Julia Garner as Ruth Langmore, a young woman whose fate becomes intertwined with the Byrde family.
Ozark concluded its run with the release of part 2 of season 4 on April 29, 2022. The finale was described by director and star Bateman as "a happy ending — but they’re limping." In spite of this, the story seemed well and truly concluded by the time the closing credits scrolled — at least for the Byrde family. Since the conclusion of the show, though, many have wondered if a spinoff taking place in the Ozark universe could come to fruition.
