One of the most important characters in One Piece, Eustass Kid is a member of the Worst Generation, just like Luffy, and he's been central to the Wano Country arc of the story. Being the Captain of the Kid Pirates, Kid wants to make a big name for himself and eventually become the Pirate King. Immediately after his debut during the Sabaody Archipelago arc, fans could feel that Kid would turn out to be extremely important to the story moving forward and now, almost a decade later, Kid's time to shine has arrived.
One Piece's Wano Country arc has seen to it that Kid receives his fair share of attention and in the Raid on Onigashima, he proved himself to be strong enough to go up against the Yonko of the New World. Not only did he fight against Kaido on the rooftop, but he also clashed with Yonko Big Mom after teaming up with Trafalgar Law, another member of the Worst Generation. Surprisingly, Kid got a major power-up in his fight against Big Mom, and it was revealed that he had awakened his Devil Fruit some time ago.

Kid hadn't been focused on in the story ever since Sabaody Archipelago and all fans saw of him were small glimpses every now and then, meaning it is quite hard to pinpoint when he awakened his Devil Fruit. It must be remembered that he entered the New World immediately after the Paramount War and has more experience than Luffy on these seas, meaning he's likely fought more people here, giving him more opportunities to take his ability to the next level. One of the biggest fights that Kid took part in was the one against Kaido, where the Yonko ambushed them.
