At first glance, it seemed as if Reliance Jio's mobile service may have been hit across the country and people taking to Twitter let the community know. However, go through the series of tweets made by users and it is easy to see no reference to a downtime on Reliance Jio's network. In fact, it is related to a Jio Cinema that made a lot of FIFA fans angry during the world cup match.
This year, Jio Cinema gained the rights to stream the FIFA World Cup matches live in India. However, the first football match livestream was plagued by several streaming issues. Viewers complained of jitters and stutters, and pauses during crucial stages of the match. The streaming was eventually halted due to a technical issue and fans were left enraged with the poor service. Many even blamed FIFA for not giving the broadcasting rights to Star and Sony network.
With the match halted, it left many fans angry. Most of them took to Twitter to vent out their frustration and blame Jio for not doing a good enough job. Jio Cinema later apologies to the viewers in a separate tweet, requesting viewers to update the app for fixing the issue.
“We are continuously working to give you a great experience. Please upgrade your app to the latest version to enjoy #FIFAWorldCupQatar2022. Apologies for any inconvenience," said the tweet.
However, the issue still doesn't seem to have gone away and there are complaints on Twitter from users who have the app installed on their smart TVs. Viewers are even facing issues while streaming on their PCs.
