Square Enix has announced, via the medium of Twitter, that Octopath Traveller: Heroes of the Continent is coming to the west later this year. If you haven’t heard of the game, it’s a prequel story to the rather excellent Octopath Traveller.
Heroes of the Continent has been out in Japan since October 2020, so it’s been a pretty long time coming. So far it’s confirmed for a release in North America and Europe.
The game is a single player, free to play RPG set before the events of the original game. Here’s a trailer – it’s in Japanese – to give you some idea of what to expect.
So far the game has only been confirmed for a release in 2022, but the original tweet suggested that Squeenix would be releasing some more information later in February.
We will, of course, keep you posted as and when we hear more. If you have the ability, you can download the Japanese version of Octopath Traveller: Heroes of the Continent by clicking here.
