The latest game in the Nintendo Warriors franchise, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was revealed at the most recent Nintendo Direct. Three Hopes is the second Fire Emblem Warriors game and the fourth Warriors game based on a Nintendo franchise. The Warriors games have been met with much success, as they put a Dynasty Warriors spin on some of Nintendo’s most popular series, but that concept does not have to exclusively be used on Nintendo franchises.
In 2015, Omega Force released Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below, which put the Dynasty Warriors spin on thepopularDragon Quest series. While it did not share the name of Nintendo's Warriors franchise, it was a Warriors game through and through. If Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, and Legend of Zelda can all experiment in the hack-and-slash genre, then so can other franchises.

Lord of the Rings is one of the most popular and well known fantasy franchises. It has spawned six movies, multiple video games like the Shadow of Mordor series, and Amazon's Rings of Power show that is coming later this year. The world of Middle-earth would be a perfect setting for a Dynasty Warriors type game. Lord of the Rings is not short on war, and players could be placed in any of the ages of Middle-earth to fight back against evil. A Lord of the Rings Warriors game could follow the events of the main series, and it could be placed during the time of Rings of Power. It could take place during the first age, or it could be set in an entirely new era. There is endless possibility for a setting and many characters that players could play as, making it a perfect candidate for a hack-and-slash adaptation.
