Nightmare Reaper is a 2.5-D retro-shooter roguelite game developed and published by Blazing Bit Games. While the game's graphics and gameplay systems may take FPS fans some time to get used to, the result is a chaotically fun, layered shooter experience. Nightmare Reaper's ability to restrain its ambitions prevents the gameplay from overextending itself, constantly pushing its greatest features to the forefront of gameplay. Unfortunately, the story leaves something to be desired, and visually impaired players may find the graphics headache-inducing, as the first-person motion isn't the smoothest.
In Nightmare Reaper, players take control of a patient in a psychiatric hospital, delving into her nightmares and defeating waves of enemies in procedurally generated levels. There are three distinct episodes for players to complete, featuring increasing difficulty levels as the story progresses. Each level is reminiscent of the original DOOM game, with each death generating new levels and enemy combinations to face. This ensures that players can replay the game countless times with endless weapon and enemy combinations.

As players begin their onslaught, they are equipped with a maximum of three weapons to kill zombies, demons, and other monstrous foes. Defeated enemies drop coins, treasures, and gibs in looter-shooter style, which upgrade player skills. Other opportunities to harvest additional treasures, money, and weapons appear in chests scattered throughout the level.
