For all its seriousness, Hitman 3 isn't afraid of having a cheeky joke or two included every so often if it makes sense in a given context. Agent 47 is, after all, a surprisingly witty character with stellar comedic timing when the opportunity shows, and developer IO Interactive peppers such moments across most of the game's levels.
The latest addition to Hitman 3's list of fun dialogue tidbits and level interactions is a veritable Monkey Island Easter egg, in fact, and fans of both franchises are bound to have some fun with it. Namely, not only are there multiple levels to this Easter egg, but it also comes with a few special goodies that Agent 47 can make use of in his travels across Ambrose Island.
Benchmark Suggests Hitman 3 Ray Tracing May Be Lacking in Performance
The pirate themed Ambrose Island level in Hitman 3 has been out for just under a week at the time of writing, and players are already scouring every square inch of the new map in search of Easter eggs and the like. The biggest of these findings so far is, without a doubt, the grave of Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Pirate — the protagonist of the legendary Monkey Island series of adventure games. While this is a fun little nod for IO Interactive to make, the team went a step further still with a special set of goodies for players to pursue.
In what looks to be a reference to the upcoming Return to Monkey Island series finale, players can get a few Dubloons and a unique saber from Guybrush Threepwood's Ambrose Island gravesite. To do so, Agent 47 needs to find a torch and light four special braziers strewn across the level. Then, he can grab a shovel and dig up a chest at Threepwood's grave which will contain said items.
