As Geeked Week draws to a close, Netflix is still turning out plenty of new announcements. Today, it was revealed that the streamer would be returning to the world of Castlevania with a brand new series, Castlevania: Nocturne. A follow up to their original Castlevania series, which lasted four seasons, Nocturne will focus in on another prominent member of the Belmont family line, Richter. Take a look at him now in this announcement teaser.
Netflix had previously confirmed that they were not finished mining the Castlevania mythos for content following the series finale of the original run. In fact, it was during last year's Geeked Week that the show's creators teased the possibility of Richter being the primary character. We get to see him now--albeit briefly--in all his animated glory, toting his family's trademark whip.
In the video game canon, Richter is several generations down the line from Trevor, who starred in seasons one through four. Trevor eventually had a handful of kids with Sypha (who also starred in seasons one through four) who went on to have kids of their own until finally Richter arrived on the scene. In the games, he is the chief protagonist of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, and has appeared in multiple others throughout the franchise. It's not entirely clear if the show is going to follow this specific series of events or if it will be moving things around.
Currently, there is no confirmed premiere date for Castlevania: Nocturne, nor are there any casting details available.
