Name of Next Overwatch 2 Support Hero May Have Leaked
A screenshot of the description for the Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack began circulating on social media that may have leaked the name of the elusive Kanezaka Fox Girl: Kiriko.
A screenshot that was posted to Reddit in r/CompetitiveOverwatch and then Twitter had some details about the Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack and Battle Pass. In the second half of the description, there was a sentence that stated, «As a Season One Premium Battle Pass owner you will automatically receive access to Overwatch's latest hero Kiriko.» This has now been deleted from the Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack description.
Blizzard Confirms Cross-Progression for Overwatch 2
After attending a content creator summit with Blizzard, John «Wanted» Lin may have almost let the name slip during a livestream. When fielding questions about the hype leading up to the release of Overwatch 2, Wanted was asked who they were excited to main in the game. He began to answer «I was thinking about Kiri...» then stopped himself and awkwardly brought up a Sword Art Online character Kirito in an attempt to perhaps try and cover it up.
As the screenshot of the Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack description began to circulate on social media, some fans raised concerns about the method of obtaining new heroes. The Battle Pass system will be new to Overwatch and, though there will be a free and a premium Battle Pass, fans have been getting caught up on the association and proximity of the word «premium» to the supposed new hero name «Kiriko.» This has become the biggest talking point for fans thinking that they will be required to buy the Premium Battle Pass in order to get new Overwatch heroes.
