Nvidia has finally unveiled its much-anticipated 40-series line of graphics cards. Along with the line-up, the company also revealed the next evolution of performance-boosting tech: DLSS 3. The company is promising some big, beefy gains with the new DLSS, saying it can improve performance by four times. As impressive as it sounds, it does leave us wondering what games will get the treatment. Well, let us wonder no more. Nvidia’s DLSS 3 will support 35 games and apps, such as Cyberpunk 2077 and the upcoming Portal RTX.
Don’t worry, though, the majority of the list is comprised of games. PC owners should find relief that a good handful of games on the list are the ones in dire need of performance boosts. DLSS 3 is coming to games like CDPR’s aforementioned resource hog. Other heavy-hitting games on the list include Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption II, Asobo’s Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Chernobylite. There are even some to-be-released games getting support, including Black Myth: Wukong and STALKER 2.
But what is the performance difference? Nvidia went ahead and released a demo trailer of DLSS 3 running in Cyberpunk 2077, and the gains are certainly noteworthy. Granted, this is a controlled demo, and PC specs are unknown. However, the video takes us through a driving tour of Night City, where we can see a framerate increase of around 25 fps in some places.
The list is respectable, though not every game likely needed such a boost. Fortnite can practically run on my microwave, but it’s also one of the games getting DLSS 3 support.
