However, things really started to pick up in 2017, and MrBeast — otherwise known as Jimmy Donaldson — is now one of the biggest content creators on any platform in the world.

On July 28, MrBeast hit a YouTube standard that simply isn't seen all that often as just four accounts have more than 100 million subscribers. In addition, Donaldson is one of just two people who have individual accounts that have that kind of number, with the other streamer who can boast that kind of following being none other than PewDiePie.
The march to 100 million subscribers has been one that MrBeast has been counting down to for quite a while. Back in the early part of the month, he took to Twitter to announce that he was planning something special for what seemed like the inevitable day when he would indeed cross the impressive threshold. While Donaldson has made some expensive YouTube videos before, he boasted on Twitter that his 100 million subscriber celebration video is his most expensive yet. Of course, he also kept the details under wraps so there was something for his followers to look forward to when the time came.
