Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is bringing a new type of elder dragon to the series and it will inflict a powerful curse upon hunters that dare to face it in battle, introducing a mechanic that is similar to the combat system used in Bloodborne. Capcom has revealed some of Sunbreak's new features and monsters, which include the mighty Malzeno, and the blood curse that it carries into battle. The nature of Malzeno's powers will be familiar to some, as it bears some striking similarities with mechanics from FromSoftware's gothic horror PlayStation exclusive.
Sunbreak is the upcoming expansion to Monster Hunter Rise. The events of Sunbreak follow on directly from Monster Hunter Rise, with the player character having successfully protected Kimura Village from the Rampage. The peaceful state of affairs doesn't last long, as an incredibly powerful monster called Lunagaron appears. Kimura Village is visited by representatives of the kingdom of Elgado, which is being terrorized by a trio of monsters with the power to overwhelm its armies. The player character goes on a journey to Elgado in search of adventure, with the hope of stopping these new monsters before they can threaten any more lives.

The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion is adding a lot of content, including Master Rank quests, brand new monsters, new Silkbind attacks, and even the ability to go on quests with NPC allies.
