Microsoft Lists 50 Games Launching for Xbox, PC Over the Next 12 Months

Microsoft is planning to launch 50 new games within the next 12 months for Xbox Series X|S and PCs.

The surprise reveal during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase yesterday was Hideo Kojima announcing he's working on a game for Microsoft. We don't know when that game will be finished, but there's plenty to distract us until it does.

Following the Showcase stream, Xbox Wire(Opens in a new window) posted the image you see above with the 50 titles "targeting to release over the next 12 months." If it holds true, then we'll be able to play all of them by June 2023. You'll also notice that 40 out of the 50 titles will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, which is sure to fuel a big surge in popularity for Microsoft's gaming subscription service both this year and next.

There seems to be something for everyone in the list of games. This year we're getting the High Isle update for The Elder Scrolls Online, Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Overwatch 2, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II to name but a few. 2023 is arguably the more exciting year of gaming, though, as we'll get Diablo IV, Starfield, Stalker 2, and remakes of both Dead Space and Resident Evil 4.

I'd argue that Starfield remains the most important game for Microsoft. It's the first new intellectual property from the now Microsoft-owned Bethesda in over 25 years and will not be available on rival consoles. That's why it got a 15-minute gameplay video(Opens in a new window) during the Showcase yesterday, and why we should expect Microsoft to put its full weight behind marketing the game in the run-up to its early 2023 launch.
