Microsoft Extends Deadline of $69 Billion Activision Blizzard Acquisition | Push Square
We’ve reached the point with Microsoft’s proposed $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard where it’s likely only a matter of time before the deal closes, but the trillion dollar tech titan still has some hurdles to overcome with the UK’s regulator. While it’s returned to the negotiating table with the Competition and Markets Authority, the original deadline for the deal closing was 18th July.
Obviously if you take a cursory glance at your calendar, it’s now 19th July, and the buyout still hasn’t been finalised. It’s no surprise then that Xbox boss Phil Spencer has announced a deadline extension to 18th October, which gives it an additional three months to finalise the deal. We suspect things will probably be done and dusted sooner than that, but this should give it plenty of time.
Sony signed a contract over the weekend that would ensure Call of Duty’s continued release on PlayStation platforms for at least the next ten years. Meanwhile, the Redmond executive said his company is “excited about bringing more games to more players everywhere”.

@sanderson72 Sony had the option to keep all Activision games but they turned it down. Also, Sony do the same. So as bad as each other tbh
