Microsoft bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to Quest headsets

Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to Meta's Quest virtual reality headsets.

The news was revealed yesterday at Meta Connect 2022 and is part of a partnership between Microsoft and the Facebook parent company which also sees Microsoft 365 apps coming to the VR headsets.

"Xbox Cloud Gaming enables you to stream hundreds of high-quality games to a range of devices—and that will include Meta Quest 2 in the future," Meta wrote in a blog post.

"When Xbox Cloud Gaming launches on the Meta Quest Store, you’ll be able to hook up an Xbox controller to your headset and play console games from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library on a massive 2D screen, like having a private movie theater available at all times."

There's currently no release date on when Xbox Cloud Gaming will be coming to Quest.

Xbox Cloud Gaming – formerly Project xCloud – was released properly in 2020 following a year-long beta. The service came to PC in 2021.

Meta Connect 2022 also saw the company reveal it had acquired three development studios –Camouflaj, Armature and Twisted Pixel.
