The trailer for Metal Lords has arrived, revealing an in-depth look at the Game of Thrones creators' new Netflix movie. Following the incredible success of HBO's fantasy series, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss inked a lucrative $200 million deal to develop programming for the streaming service. So far, the dynamic duo, commonly referred to as D&D, has acted as executive producers of Netflix's critically-acclaimed drama The Chair, and they are currently adapting Liu Cixin’s trilogy of novels into a sci-fi show for the streamer titled The Three-Body Problem.
The first feature film to come of the creative partnership will be Metal Lords, which is written solely by Weiss, produced by Benioff, and directed by Peter Sollet (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist). The film follows two teenage best friends, Hunter (Adrian Greensmith) and Kevin (Jaeden Martell), who want to form a heavy metal band to compete at an upcoming Battle of the Bands competition, but first they must recruit a talented cellist at their high school, Emily (Isis Hainsworth), to play in their group. To write the music for the film, Weiss recruited the talents of Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello and Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi.
