The world of J.R.R. Tolkien is coming back to life with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Developed by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the Prime Video series acts as a prequel to both its titular novel franchise and The Hobbit book.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set thousands of years prior to both books and explores Middle-earth's Second Age that would lead to some of the biggest conflicts, including the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron and the last alliance between Elves and Men.

Long before the show arrives on Prime Video, Screen Rant spoke exclusively to stars Markella Kavenagh and Megan Richards to discuss The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, their new and longstanding loves of Tolkien's works, exploring the Harfoots and more.
Screen Rant: The Lord of the Rings property is one of the most iconic still to this day, between the films and books and now the show. What was it about Rings of Power that interested you both in being a part of it?
Markella Kavenagh: I think how universal Tolkien's work has proven to be. I think that the fact that we're able to to be part of the series and it still be so relevant thematically to the world that we live in in some way, regardless of it being set in a fantastical context, I think that was really exciting. His work had such an impact 20 years ago, many years before that, and I think that it's just evident that it just continues to engage audiences and continues to bring a new excitement and hopefully a new generation will be able to enjoy it in the same way that I did growing up and many, many other people did.
Megan Richards: I'm excited
