Complete with a slightly worn VHS effect, the commercial features lyrics from the '90s Super Mario Brothers Super Show's «Plumber Rap,» and points to a website for the family-owned business. «Thank you Super Mario Bros., it seems like the only thing you haven't drained is my bank account,» one satisfied and slightly confused customer says in the ad. Check it out below.
The animated film is produced by Illumination, the company behind the Despicable Me and Minions franchises, and is directed by animation veterans Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The screenplay was written by The Lego Movie 2's Matthew Fogel. In addition to Pratt as Mario, the Super Mario Bros. Movie features Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and Seth Rogen as DK.
