League of Legends has grown from a single, successful MOBA into a broader cross-media universe. Yet even as League of Legends spins off multiple games, TV shows, and more, Riot continues to robustly support the original game with new content. The latest addition to League of Legends has just been revealed. Introducing the new champion, Bel'Veth, a Void beast shaped like a manta ray who will fit into the League of Legends jungle role.
Bel'Veth was revealed recently with a cinematic trailer. In the trailer, Kai'Sa, who ventured into the heart of the Void in previous trailers, encounters a strange woman. The woman says she's «everything the Void has consumed,» and further, that she plans to devour the world. Suffice to say, Kai'Sa doesn't have a good first impression and attacks Bel'Veth. Bel'Veth fights back, and after constraining Kai'Sa transforms from what appeared to be a robed woman into giant manta ray-shaped Void beast.
Riot Games Wants to Slow Down League of Legends' Combat
Subsequent lore details released by Riot confirms that Bel'Veth is indeed a harbinger of the Void's hunger, but also so much more. She was born after the Void devoured a city and gained consciousness through the joined lives of those the Void ate. Instead of aligning with the Void Watchers, the progenitors of modern Voidborn, Bel'Veth seeks to consume the world for her own purposes. She calls this world of her own creation the Lavender Sea.
While Bel'Veth's abilities have yet to be confirmed, several gameplay clips have been shown of her in action.
