Judgment and Lost Judgment are now available on PC, Sega has announced.
Announce during TGS, the detective series has finally made its way to PC some years after its debut on home consoles.
Lost Judgment is available for £49.99/ $49.99 on Steam and Judgment is available for £34.99 / $34.99. The Kaito Files expansion will also come with bundled version of both games, which is not currently available.
This has come as a surprise to fans as it was previously claimed that PC releases for the games had been blocked by lead actor Takuya Kimura’s talent agency.
Japanese showbiz news site Nikkan Taishu claimed last year that sources told it Kimura’s talent agency Johnny & Associates had been blocking PC versions of games in the Judgment series because they don’t want Kimura to appear in PC games.
While it’s not entirely clear why this is, the site suggested that because Johnny & Associates “has strict control over the [likeness] rights of its talent, and the use of their image online is still limited to a few”, the agency may be treating PC games differently because home computers have direct access to the internet.
The report claimed that Sega had been trying to bring Judgment and Lost Judgment to Steam, but because the agency was blocking this from happening it could draw a line under the series after Lost Judgment.
Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio showed off three games in Like a Dragon series earlier today as part of TGS.
Yakuza 8 will officially be titled Like A Dragon 8 and will star Kiryu and Ichiban. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name was also revealed. This game will be a spin-off taking place between Yakuza 6 and 7.
Yakuza spin-off Like a Dragon Ishin was also revealed this week.
