Many fans may be divided on Sonic Frontiers, but if there's one thing we can agree on, it's that its soundtrack will probably slap. Regardless of a game's quality, you can always trust Sonic Team to go all-out on the tunes, and according to a new ad, the latest instalment will be no exception.
A new ad for Sonic Frontiers spotted in Japan gives us a taste of what musical offerings we're in store for - and it sounds pretty great. The ad features a new rock song, very reminiscent of the high-energy hits we've come to expect from the series.

Alas, the ad only features a couple of seconds of the new track, but it's enough to give us a rough idea of what it sounds like. Energy-wise, it's not as cheesy as Fist Bump, but also not quite as serious as say, His World. The game as a whole seems to strike this balance in the gameplay we see, with Sonic embarking on what appears to be a pretty lonely and melancholic journey.
As well as the new track, we can also hear a Japanese voice-over. The top comment on the Reddit post that initially shared the trailer has shared a fan translation:
"You don't stop... Even when they get in your way. You don't stop... Even in front of giant enemies. You don't stop... What drives you to keep running? Why do you never stop? If you don't keep running... You won't get that feeling"
This definitely points to the game taking a more serious tone, albeit not to as much of an extent as some of the weaker games in the series. Sonic '06 and Sonic Forces are often ridiculed for their introduction of darker tones, so hopefully, Frontiers will stick the landing on this front. Sonic Frontiers is set to launch later this year.
