Intel's powerful new Core i9-12900KS processor is reportedly shipping to some lucky buyers ahead of its official launch later this month. The i9-12900KS is Intel's fastest Alder Lake CPU and the company's latest 'special edition' offering that comes with higher clock speeds than the standard i9-12900K. It was initially announced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 in January and is believed to ship with a 3.5GHz base clock and a massive 5.5GHz peak single-core frequency.

As for its latest Alder Lake desktop lineup, the Core i9-12900KS will be an upgrade over the standard Core i9-12900K, which is still officially the leader of the pack, offering up to 16 cores and 24 threads.
