iPhone users will soon be able to end calls using Siri voice commands, as the feature is included in the upcoming release of iOS 16 slated for a full public rollout in the fall. The latest version of Apple's mobile operating system was announced in June at WWDC, an annual event focused on the company's unreleased software. Though there are a lot of features highlighted at the event, some remain unannounced — to be discovered later either through testing or scouring the release notes of the software. Directly following the announcement of iOS 16 at WWDC 2022, a developer beta software version was released, allowing developers and other testers to experience the new software.
Before a new version of iOS reaches the public each fall — usually alongside a new lineup of iPhones — the mobile operating system undergoes multiple beta testing periods. The first of these periods includes the developer beta software program, which is the most unstable version of the software that is intended for development use only. This period gives developers the time they need to ensure everything works correctly after the upgrade. Next comes a public beta software program, where willing technology enthusiasts can opt-in to test iOS 16 before the general public. Finally, iOS 16 will be released to everyone in the fall, with new features in tow including the ability to end calls using Siri.
