Gran Turismo 7 is poised to be the PlayStation exclusive racing simulator’s most immersive iteration yet, thanks in part to the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Sony Interactive shared the first details recently on how the DualSense controller’s most innovative features will be used in the hotly anticipated latest entry in the Gran Turismo franchise. Part of Sony’s vision for the PlayStation 5 was to be able to express reality with devices that convey information beyond graphics and sounds. The Gran Turismo games are well known for their efforts to meticulously recreate the realities of racing and the latest game brings a host of new features to the experience in its first entry on the PlayStation 5.
The PS5’s DualSense controller delivers an immersive experience thanks to its adaptive triggers and use of haptic feedback. The controller’s adaptive trigger buttons express varying levels of force and tension as players interact with their in-game environment. The controller also provides haptic feedback, with dual actuators that replace a traditional rumble motor and can simulate the feeling of everything from in-game terrain to the weight and recoil of different weapons. The DualSense's unique features connect players more closely to their on-screen actions and provide them with a deeper sense of immersion.
