Horizon Zero Dawn might just be getting a remake if recent rumors are to be believed. The popular game was released for PC in 2020, but only came out for PS4 on February 28, 2017. Zero Dawn just got a sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, a couple of months ago for PS4 and PS5 on February 18, 2022.
The news came from the publication MP1ST before getting picked up by a variety of notorious leakers including Wario64 and Nibel. According to these reports, the developer behind the remake, Guerilla Games, will be giving the updated version of Zero Dawn improved visuals to rival its recently released follow up, Forbidden West. The game will apparently feature brand new character models in addition to better lighting and animation. The remake will also be adding accessibility features and quality of life improvements.

This comes in the wake of several notable remasters from PlayStation including Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us. The latter in particular has been widely criticized for being largely unnecessary, many fans of the franchise calling the game a “cash grab,” something which the developer, Naughty Dog, has frequently denied.
The recent reports additionally claim that Guerilla is currently working on a multiplayer game for PC and PS5 set in the Horizon universe. The studio has been wanting to expand the franchise into multiplayer for a long time, Zero Dawn being given a co-op mode that was apparently scrapped at some point during development, as confirmed by some early concept art.
