There may be some good news on the horizon for Legacy of Kain fans. Earlier today, Crystal Dynamics released a survey that asks various questions about the Legacy of Kain franchise. These range from fairly generic questions like the type of gaming devices you may own with more specific queries about what you’d enjoy in a potential sequel or re-release.
The Legacy of Kain survey isn’t exactly subtle in hearing opinions on where the series should go. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to think that Crystal Dynamics could be planning something Legacy of Kain-related. Ever since Square Enix sold off most of its western gaming studios, the future of some franchises has been unclear. Embracer Group holds the reins now, though, so we could see some old franchises making a comeback.
The Legacy of Kain series has remained popular thanks to the passion of its fan base. In total, there are five entries, with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver arguably being the most popular. The last entry in the series, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, came out in 2003. And while there was an attempt to develop another game, we haven’t seen a new entry in nearly 20 years. It’s impressive that the franchise has remained so popular in that time without any new games. Ultimately, it represents the love the fans have for the games and how well they stand up even now. With any luck, the Legacy of Kain survey is the sign of something new.
This sort of passion is often more of a worry than a blessing, though. After all, if a new Legacy of Kain game is on the way, the expectations for it are going to be high.
