In addition to outlining its Spring 2022 Roadmap for Guild Wars 2, developer ArenaNet announced plans for a fourth game expansion and new map based in the Cantha region. Such a reveal comes at the perfect time for the MMORPG, given that Guild Wars 2 has managed to double its player-base in the last couple of years.
The online game's renewed success is no doubt thanks to ongoing support from ArenaNet, with Guild Wars 2's End of Dragons expansion serving as the most recent example. Things weren't always looking up for the title or its creator, however. In 2019, ArenaNet laid off a significant number of workers amid a sharp decline in studio revenue. End of Dragons' launch this past February was, thus, considered the last saving grace for the Guild Wars sequel. Fortunately, it appears as though the multiplayer experience will live on for a while longer because of the expansion. It should come as no surprise, then, that the development crew has even bigger plans in place for the fantastical world of Tyria.

Upon confirming details about the Spring 2022 Roadmap and beyond, ArenaNet teased it has a fourth expansion in the works for Guild Wars 2. Because this new content remains in the embryonic stages of production, though, the team can't divulge anything as of yet. Players shouldn't expect to hear any concrete details about the expansion anytime soon, either.
