Gotham Knights just updated its Steam page with the minimum PC requirements, and some Steam users are in for a shock. The absolute minimum requirements to run Gotham Knights on low settings at 1080p resolution and 60 fps calls for a GeForce GTX 1660 To or an AMD Radeon RX 590, which is better than the average Steam user.

Now let’s compare this hardware to Steam’s most recent survey, completed just last month. Note that the most common video cards on the platform are the GeForce GTX 1060 and the GTX 1650, with the GTX 1050 Ti also coming up high on the list. These three cards are the most numerous on the platform and account for roughly 20 percent of all Steam users. That means a fifth of Steam’s players can’t run Gotham Knights.

Get into the CPUs and you’ll find clock speeds well below what Gotham Knights is asking for, although clock speeds alone aren’t the only factor that goes into a CPU’s processing power.
The "average" Steam user is still on a CPU several generations old and running games on a GTX 1060. That user will find themselves out of luck with Gotham Knights.
But given Gotham Knights and others are leaving previous-gen consoles behind, a hardware shift for PC gamers was inevitable. Expect to see the average Steam user looking for an upgrade in the near future.
