Gotham Knights will be capped at 30 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X as it does not have a performance mode. Gotham Knights was set to launch on previous generation consoles as well, but the PS4 and Xbox One versions were canceled this year.
A majority of games on PS5 and Xbox Series X feature two to three graphics modes. Usually, one of them focuses on delivering the best possible visuals at 30 FPS, while another targets 60 FPS with a lower resolution and graphical effects. Games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Fortnite even have support for 120 FPS gameplay on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Unfortunately, it’s now confirmed that Gotham Knights will not have any performance modes for high frame rate on current-gen consoles.

A developer from WB Games Montreal posted an update on Discord with news on Gotham Knights’ graphics modes. The post confirmed that Gotham Knights will run at 30 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X due to the types of features present in the game. Unlike many games released these days, it will not have a toggle that lets users choose between quality and performance modes. The developer states that Gotham Knights is providing a fully untethered co-op experience in a detailed open world, so adding an option for 60 FPS gameplay is not as simple as reducing the resolution.
Gotham Knights is an action game, so a higher frame rate will provide a smoother and more responsive gameplay experience.
