Ghostwire: Tokyo follows open-world tradition by including loads of side quests for players to complete and collectibles to find. Fairly early in the game, players will run inevitably into Boss Tanuki, who will inform the player that he has been separated from his 25 Tanuki comrades.
Players of Ghostwire: Tokyo will of course take up the task, and this will begin the «Tanuki Quest» side quest line. Players will be on the hunt for Tanuki who have disguised themselves as inanimate objects so that they may remain hidden from the Visitor scourge that has rocked Tokyo. These Tanuki will be hiding in all sorts of nooks and crannies around the game's world, but fortunately their disguises only get them so far, as they will still have their fluffy tail visible from whatever object they are mimicking.
The player has multiple avenues available for locating these tricky critters. The player has access to Spectral Vision, which allows them to see highlighted outlines of all interactive objects in their immediate vicinity. This is no different for the Tanuki, who will be highlighted as whatever object they are — but with their tail visible as well.
Players can also read the thoughts of the dogs and cats that roam the streets and alleys. They will provide clues to the player as to the whereabouts of their furry cousins if one is close enough.

Additionally, some shrines will have an Offering Box which will allow the player to donate a sum of money to in exchange for information. If applicable, the player is able to request the location of Tanuki, but the player should note that the Offering Box will only reveal the location within its respective border.
