Epic Games has announced that the animated comedy series will be crossing over with the massively popular battle royale video game Fortnite.
Likely to celebrate the return of Futurama and the new season that is releasing on Hulu, the Matt Groening-made series was confirmed to be crossing over with Fortnite in a tweet from the game’s official Twitter account with the caption “ALL HAIL HYPNOTOAD 7.26.23.” The brief clip shows Futurama’s Hypnotoad on a large screen in Mega City — a location that is part of the game’s large map. The Planet Express ship then crashes into said screen, as it does in the series’ opening credits.

A video with a thumbnail image of “Futurama x Fortnite” that is set to go live at 2:00 a.m. PT/5:00 a.m. ET on July 26 was dropped as well, meaning further information on the nature of the crossover will be revealed soon enough.
“After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact,” reads the newest season’s synopsis. “The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.”
