The songwriter behind Frozen's hit single «Let it Go» has reacted to a video of a young Ukrainian girl singing the song from a shelter in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv. Disney released Frozen back in 2013 to massive success, spawning everything from short films, merchandise, musical stage shows, and a sequel film, Frozen II, which was released in 2019. Frozen has very much become its own franchise ever since introducing families to main characters Anna and Elsa as well as the memorable soundtrack that came with it.
Along with her husband, Kristen Anderson-Lopez wrote the songs for 2013’s Frozen and its 2019 sequel. Among those songs was «Let it Go,» which was performed in the film by Idina Menzel as Queen Elsa as she celebrates her freedom and embraces her ability to create ice. The song went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song and quickly became one of Disney’s most iconic and beloved songs.

Now, Anderson-Lopez has taken to Twitter to support a young girl, reportedly named Amelia, who is seen on video singing «Let It Go.» As the Russian invasion of Ukraine nears its third week, the video shows the girl entertaining her family and the other people in the shelter with her immense talent. Anderson-Lopez said that the girl’s rendition "heals everyone who hears it" and encouraged her to "keep singing!” The songwriter also appeared to draw a comparison between the girl’s circumstances and the message of the song, sharing that «Let it Go» was written for “a story about healing a family in pain.” After being shared to Twitter on March 6, the emotional video has over 13 million views and has received thousands of supportive responses.
