Epic officially revealed Unreal Engine 5 in 2020 alongside a tech demo featuring Lumen in the Land of the Nanite. It has been hard at work on the engine and a number of developers have already and will be using to build their games in the future, including CD Projekt Red. Earlier this week, UE5 officially launched. To celebrate, Epic hosted a live stream, diving into the finer details of its groundbreaking new engine for those who are into learning about that sort of thing.
If you're a big Fortnite fan, then everything Epic has to say about Unreal Engine 5 will likely be of great interest to you. As the studio's biggest IP, it was the very first game to have its development moved over to UE5. Eagle-eyed Fortnite fans who tuned into this week's live stream were treated to an added glimpse into the game's future.

If you look closely at one of the monitors shown, and we mean really closely, during the stream, there appear to be file names indicating who or what might be coming to Fortnite in the future. Among the blurry file names people have managed to identify are Doom, Darth Vader, and yes, Family Guy. It appears that the pipedream of Peter Griffin one day leaping from the Battle Bus and gracefully gliding down into The Loop isn't over, not yet.
There have been rumors and leaks pointing towards the addition of Family Guy characters to Fortnite for more than a year. Radio silence on that front eventually led to those rumors falling by the wayside until now.
