Five new Lego Sonic the Hedgehog sets have appeared online.
According to PromoBricks, a Lego blog that has repeatedly reported accurate information about upcoming Lego releases, at least five new sets from the franchise are scheduled for next year.
These sets will reportedly cost between $29.99 and $99.99. A firm release date for the sets isn’t known, but they’re expected during Lego’s Summer 2023 release, which is generally around August 1st.
Sonic first appeared in Lego form as part of Lego Dimensions, the toys-to-life video game which was published by WarnerBros. last generation. The game saw physical Lego figures placed on a portal, where they would then appear in the game.
In other Lego gaming news, a Lego footballer minifig in 2K-branded packaging was spotted earlier this month, seemingly corroborating VGC’s exclusive report from earlier this year.
In February we reported that Lego is partnering with 2K for a new line of Lego sports games, starting with a football/soccer game developed by Sumo Digital.
Now a new minifigure spotted on Lego’s certification page by 1414falconfan appears to indicate that the game is indeed still in the works.
The packaging shows the character, named Finnius Dash, standing on a football pitch wearing a purple shark head mask and what appears to be a Barcelona shirt. Crucially, the packaging also says Lego Games at the top and features the 2K logo in the bottom corner, suggesting a game connection.
