FIFA 23‘s World Cup content won’t include a dedicated FUT game mode and will remove certain cards from players’ accounts after the event, it’s been claimed.
According to FUT Sheriff, a Twitter account that has accurately leaked every single promo card and game mode in FIFA for the past year, the popular World Cup mode from 2018 and 2014 won’t be making a return this year.
“There will be no World Cup mode INSIDE FUT. There will be special cards and themed content, like a promo, but no mode,” tweeted Sheriff. “We will receive TIME LIMITED cards from the players in World Cup and we will use them to do Objectives and SBC’s based on WC.
The previous Ultimate Team World Cup modes were separate from the normal mode, allowing players to build new teams based on the nations that were due to participate in the tournament, and then compete to win the World Cup.
The mode was praised for its low barrier to entry and the fact that any packs bought in the mode would earn the player the same pack in the main game.
Sheriff went on to claim that “time-limited players” will be available during the event which players can earn via objectives and squad-building challenges.
While this was expected, the difference here is that Sheriff claims that certain players will be removed from players’ accounts following the conclusion of the event, something that has almost never happened in FUT history.
