Wii Sports is back! Nintendo announced a sequel called Switch Sports and, while it has Miis, the main focus is on the new character models who have fans torn.
"Weird that you seem to be able to play both as Miis and as some sort of children from a Christian Roblox competitor," one fan wrote. Another replied, "They look like player-created characters from the Disney 3DS games."

Miis have seen a massive upgrade in visuals and customization since their debut, culminating in Miitopia's beloved character creator that let players dive deep, near-perfectly recreating celebrities and other video game characters. Fans are ecstatic to see them make yet another return in Switch Sports, but the new character models - which are more cartoonish with proper anatomy - are being bombarded by memes.
But it isn't just the new characters that are being meme-d. Champion Matt was a CPU Mii from Wii Sports, arguably one of the easiest whether you were facing him in baseball or tennis, and people are poking fun. Poor Matt - he was just trying his hardest.
Now he's the butt of a joke with many sarcastically calling him out as one of the most difficult Mii opponents, a "champion" of the game. He isn't, but he really did give it his all.
The new characters aren't just comprised of cartoonish people - there are also humanoid animals. On the Japanese page for Switch Sports, there's a furry purple and pink character with green glasses and a floral shirt plastered with the word 'Lotus'. The other characters might have a mixed reception, but there's already a burning love for these more animalistic types.
