The Epic Games Store has been giving away free games every week for years now, ranging from small indie games to blockbuster AAA releases. The next batch of Epic Games Store free games are always revealed on Thursdays at 10am CT, and it's likely that the store will stick to that for the month of October.
At the time of this writing, the Epic Games Store free games are Rising Hell and Slain: Back from Hell, both of which will be available until October 13 at 10am CT. At that point, Rising Hell and Slain: Back from Hell will be replaced with ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove, which will be the Epic Games Store free game offering from October 13 at October 20 when it's replaced by another free game or two.

Epic Games Store users won't have a clue about the next set of free games until later this week, but a pattern has been established that they could very well fit the Halloween season. For years, the Epic Games Store has given away multiple free horror-themed games for the month of October, and while ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove doesn't really fit the mold, it seems likely that things will get back on track for the rest of the month.
Previous years have seen the Epic Games Store give away horror games like Alan Wake: American Nightmare, Observer, Layers of Fear, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Blair Witch, Among the Sleep, and DARQ: Complete Edition in the month of October.
