After completing a series of prerequisites, Elden Ring players will find themselves tasked with freeing Sorceress Sellen in the Witchbane Ruins. Players first meet Sorceress Sellen in Limgrave after defeating a Mad Pumpkin Head who guards her abode at the Waypoint Ruins. Sellen is tucked away in the back of the cellar, ready to teach players new sorceries to use in battle. Players who use long-range spellcasting or spellblade classes will find Sorceress Sellen's services highly beneficial.
When players first interact with Sorceress Sellen in the Waypoint Ruins, she will ask them if they want to learn sorcery for her. Players must accept her offer to begin Sorceress Sellen's questline. After completing a series of tasks, including finding Master Lusat in Elden Ring, Sellen will tell players her current form is merely a projection. Sorceress Sellen will then task players with freeing her physical form from imprisonment in a cellar at the Witchbane Ruins.

Before players can progress Sorceress Sellen's questline past the Master Lusat quest, they must defeat Radahn. After players defeat the Radahn boss fight, they can progress in Sellen's storyline to free her from imprisonment. Sorceress Sellen's physical form is shackled in the Witchbane Ruins. Players can find the Witchbane Ruins on the Weeping Peninsula south of the Fourth Church of Marika Site of Grace. Reaching the Weeping Peninsula in Elden Ring can be made easier by unlocking some more powerful spells from Sorceress Sellen.
