White-Faced Varré is the seemingly friendly yet eerie NPC in Elden Ring that Tarnished pilgrims will first encounter at the start of their adventure in the Lands Between. Standing near The First Step Site of Grace, Varré will gently welcome the protagonist to the world as a new hopeless, maidenless adventurer. He will direct them to Stormveil, where they must face and defeat Godrick the Grafted. While he may seem like a minor side character with little to say, White-Faced Varré has a brief yet intriguing questline for Tarnished who follow it.
The first step of White-Faced Varré's questline in Elden Ring is beating Godrick. After defeating Margit or gaining access to the Roundtable Hold, the player can revisit him to hear some new dialogue, but this is not required to progress his story. Nevertheless, once the Demigod of Stormveil has been vanquished, Tarnished will meet the mysterious White-Faced Varré a second time at the Rose Church in Liurnia.

The Rose Church is located on an island between the Raya Lucaria Academy and the Village of the Albinaurics. After arrival, the player will find Varré standing in front of the ruined chapel's entrance. He will give the protagonist five Festering Bloody Fingers, which permit the player to invade another player's world. After using three of the fingers, speak to him again in front of the Rose Church. Keep in mind that it will not matter whether the player succeeds or is killed during their invasion attempts.
After completing three invasions and returning to Varré, he will task Tarnished with soaking a cloth called Lord of Blood's Favor in a Finger Maiden's blood. There are two options to complete this mission. First, adventurers
