It has become a tradition for FromSoftware’s Soulslike games to feature multiple endings connected to different NPCs, from the extending of the age of fire in Dark Souls to becoming an eldritch god yourself in Bloodborne. As with tradition then, Elden Ring features a series of endings for you to discover.

Each ending in Elden Ring sees a different fate befall the Lands Between, with some being clearly better than others. The darkest and most gruesome ending in this list is perhaps the Blessing of Despair ending, a conclusion that sees the Lands Between cursed by a defiled tarnished.
To begin your quest to bring despair to the Lands Between, you must first meet with the Loathsome Dung Eater, a legendary tarnished mentioned in the game's opening cutscene.
To do so, you must have first reached the area known as Leyndell, Royal Capital. This is a mid to late-game area, so do not expect to complete this questline early in your journey. Once you have found the capital, return to the Roundtable Hold to find the door beyond Gideon’s study open. Head into this room to find the Loathsome Dung eater.
Upon talking with this rot-ridden tarnished, you will be rebuffed, with the character having no interest in conversing further. To continue this questline, you will need an item named the Seedbed Curse. Seedbed Curses can be found in a number of locations throughout Elden Ring - their locations are listed in sections later in this guide - once you have one in your inventory, the Dung Eater will allow you to speak with him further.
During this next conversation, the Dung Eater will give you the Sewer-Gaol Key and ask you to set his true body free from its prison.
