Dragon's Dogma 2 DLC Hopes Reignited By Suspicious Steam Updates | Push Square
Capcom's been very, very quiet on all things Dragon's Dogma 2 for a few months now. With the game shifting as many copies as it did — and with the publisher bigging the property up just after launch — there was a widespread belief that the RPG would receive meaningful updates, followed by some kind of expansion down the line. However, outside of a handful of patches, Capcom's yet to commit to any future plans.
That could change relatively soon, though. As spotted by numerous fans on Reddit, Capcom has actually been making changes to the game's files on Steam for quite a while. These are developer-side, encrypted updates that suggest the team's cooking something behind the scenes. In particular, this past week has seen Capcom make a load of edits, leading some to believe that an announcement is on the horizon.
Of course, the timing all lines up with this year's Tokyo Game Show, which is happening later this month. The hope is that Capcom's been keeping quiet because it's about to give us a big reveal. Fingers crossed!
But what about the departure of Hideaki Itsuno, Dragon's Dogma 2's director? The Capcom veteran has left the company at the time of writing this article, but that doesn't necessarily change the game's future. If the game is getting DLC or major updates, or both, then Itsuno will have wrapped up his work weeks if not months ago.
Plus, it's important to note that the highly rated expansion for the first Dragon's Dogma, which was part of the Dark Arisen re-release, was directed by Kento Kinoshita, and not Itsuno. It's entirely possible that the team has taken a similar approach here.
