It's already been eight years since the last major game in the Dragon Age franchise, but it appears players will be waiting a good deal longer for Dragon Age 4. Dragon Age 4 was first revealed back at the 2018 Game Awards, and even then it was stated that it had been in development for quite a while.
Rumors circled about a 2021 release date but nothing ever come of it, and gamers have easily awaited any and all news from it. Every major gaming event, rumors swirl about another trailer or announcement but so far it's failed to appear, which is why it's disappointing to some that they may have to keep waiting a bit longer.
Former Dragon Age Executive Producer Criticizes 'BioWare Magic'
The latest reveal comes from Giant Bomb contributor Jeff Grubb on a recent episode of GrubbSnax where he said that the game is «at least 18 months away.» While that may seem like a while, it was also discussed how this is all according to plan, as it's «hitting all its milestones» and is set to release on schedule. Grubb also claimed that it's been in development since 2017. Some reports have misconstrued his words on this episode to mean that Dragon Age 4 is coming within the next 18 months, but sadly he meant that it would be at least 18 months before fans see it at all. This is in line with a recent insider report that there’s no chance that Dragon Age 4 would be released in 2022, and suggests that it will release in Q4 of 2023 at the very earliest.
Fortunately, this means that players who have been unable to pick up a next-gen system will have a better chance at doing so. This is crucial for fans of the series because BioWare has confirmed that it's not building a version ofDragon Age 4 for last-gen consoles, making sure that the new game
