We’ve already had an eventful summer of video game showcases, but it looks like it isn’t over yet. Disney is now entering the digital game showcase party with the announcement of the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase. The new event takes place live at the D23 expo on September 9 at 4 PM ET, with Kinda Funny’s Blessing Adeoye Jr as its host.
According to a post on Marvel’s website, the showcase will feature “incredible new content from Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games, and 20th Century Games. In addition to all-new announcements, fans can expect new reveals from titles including Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and a sneak peek at the upcoming Marvel ensemble game from Skydance New Media.”
There are a lot of potential games that could be shown during this event, which makes the showcase an exciting prospect. Marvel’s Midnight Suns was recently delayed, but it seems like an ideal time for fans to see more about the game. Disney Dreamlight Valley has potential as a life-simulation game that incorporates many of Disney’s beloved properties.
Most exciting is the “sneak peek” at a new Marvel game from Skydance New Media. This game is being helmed by famous game developer Amy Hennig, who was previously a creative director at Naughty Dog. This project was revealed earlier this year but details are thin on the ground. Hennig said that she “can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game.”
It’s also worth noting that Hennig and her team are working on a Star Wars game, but that seems less likely to appear at this event. However, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is also set to be released next year, and the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase seems like it would
