Since then, numerous patches have improved things significantly, but to many players, it's still not quite on par with other titles in the series.

He also directed the post-apocalyptic film Escape From L.A., which ties in with his interest in the Fallout franchise. When asked by The AV Club, Carpenter said he's been keeping up with the likes of Borderlands and Horizon: Forbidden West, referring to the design of the latter as «mind-blowing.» However, one thing he's really into at the moment is Fallout 76, and Carpenter said he's been «hooked for a good long time.» The director added that he's well aware of the bugs that plagued the title when it was released, but he evidently could see past all that, referring to the game as being «fun to play.» When asked about what he finds appealing about open-world titles, the movie maker said he loves the overall freedom that games like Fallout afford the player.
