Bungie is already setting the stage for Destiny 2's next major event — this year's Guardian Games. Effectively the equivalent of the Olympics for magical super-soldiers, Guardian Games have historically served as a change of pace for both the players and the ongoing seasonal narrative, and the event's 2022 iteration looks to be no different in this respect.
On that note, Destiny 2 is making some potentially huge changes to how Guardian Games will work moving forward. While the core and the atmosphere of the event will mainly remain the same, the mechanics of how players interact with the new content seem to be revamped from the ground up, with the biggest change being the introduction of Strike scoring.

While the Guardian Games of 2021 didn't introduce any major new playlists or mechanics, the 2022 version of the event is going to open up three completely new playlists: Recreational, Training, and Competitive. To earn the maximum number of medals, players will need to jump into different playlists on different days, refer to their specific scoring systems (individual vs. fireteam-based), and attempt to earn as high of a Strike score as possible. The reason Strike scoring is noteworthy, mind, is that it was a beloved feature in the first Destiny, and its presence in Guardian Games could suggest that Bungie is looking to reintroduce it in the future.
