The Demon Slayer series has received a wide amount of acclaim on an international level, with successful anime, music, and video game adaptations. Now CyberConnect2 has announced this week that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles will be coming to Switch consoles.
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles is a 3D arena fighting game that loosely follows the main series' story, and also features multiplayer modes. The long-awaited port has finally been confirmed and is likely to excite Demon Slayer fans on Switch.
Demon Slayer Game Highlights Adventure Mode in New Trailer
CyberConnect 2 and Aniplex are the respective companies behind the announcement, stating in a recent press release that the Switch release would be launching in Japan on June 9, with worldwide release on June 10. It has since been confirmed that all post-release content will be provided with the base game. Along with the original 18 characters starring in The Hinokami Chronicles, previous DLC characters like Rui, Yahaba, and Tamayo will all be instantly available to play. Other additions include new missions and changes to gameplay to make it more balanced for players. Collectors may be interested in purchasing a physical edition of the game, with an unlock key for Kimetsu Academy Tanjiro Kamado as a pre-order bonus to sweeten the deal.
The full game follows up to the Mugen Train Arc from Season 1 of Demon Slayer, which sees protagonist Tanjiro Kamado battling against various demons to save his sister Nezuko from a demonic fate. Various boss battles and explorations are also included as minor gameplay arcs undertaken in Adventure Mode.
