In episode 8 of Demon Slayer's second season, a certain blue flower appears during the episode. They are also seen in the outro of season 1. These flowers are Blue Spider Lilies and are very important to Muzan Kibutsuji, the anime's prime villain. Not only are they indicative of his past, but of his present hopes and desires as well.
The story focuses on Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado, siblings in a seemingly mundane family with a mysterious heritage. Their lives change when Muzan slaughters their entire family, save for them, with Nezuko being turned into a demon in the process. Motivated to return Nezuko back to a normal girl, the siblings embark on a strange journey. Tanjiro becomes a licensed demon slayer, and Nezuko turns out to be a very special kind of demon.

Chapter 205, the final chapter of the manga, is set far into the future. It focuses on the descendants of the series' characters throughout the story as we know it. Aoba Hashibira, the great-grandson of Inosuke Hashibira and Aoi Kanzaki, is a working botanist who is conducting research on the Blue Spider Lily. In his work, he confirms that the flower blooms during the daytime exclusively, only two or three days a year. However, due to a mistake, all the flowers withered.
Chapter 127 tells the origin of Muzan becoming a demon. When he was young, Muzan was afflicted with a deadly disease, one that would kill him before he turned 20 years old. Out of anger due to his worsening condition, Muzan murdered his doctor before completing his course of treatment.
